Collier County, Fla. – December 14, 2017: Since October, the Collier County Supervisor of Elections office has been engaging high school students in the electoral process by challenging them to register and pre-register to vote.
So far, 11 schools have participated in the fifth annual High School Voter Registration Challenge and already, the office has collected more than 1,000 new voter registration applications from students.
Approximately 1,073 new voter registrations have been received by the elections office since the challenge kicked off, which is nearly double the number collected during last year’s challenge.
“We are excited to see so many students participating in this challenge. Pre-registered voters who turn 18 prior to Election Day next year will be eligible to vote in that election.” – Jennifer J. Edwards, Supervisor of Elections
